5 Surprising Digital Marketing Trends for 2025 Women Creators Need to Know
2025 is almost here. What hot digital marketing trends do creators need to know? I’m on it.
Hi, I’m Daryn Strauss, a Writers Guild Award winning creator and the host of the Digital Chick Network where I provide content strategy and digital marketing tips to women creators looking to build a digital business that rivals television networks.
I have got 5 important 2025 digital marketing trends to share with you and the last one is vital so stick around.
Editing is out, real value is in.
Notice I said real VALUE. The real way to build trust is to provide real value. That means your content is not about you. It’s about the person who is watching. What does that person need? What are their pain paints? And how can you help them solve those pain points? So, viewers no longer expect faster paced, highly produced videos. Low-fi is fine if you are providing real VALUE. Obviously if you are a professional, you should do you - for me, I hold myself to a little production standard because I do this professionally - but if you are not a professional, no editing or minimal editing but honest content that provides real value is performing really well right now. In fact, most of the accounts I have been following that have blown up the past few months – they are filming on their iphones and are talking pretty much un-edited. Woman creators like Alexis Saaranoja, Diane Moore, and Dough Dash all blew up the last few months with very low-fi production.
Older creators are on fire.
There is a myth that social media is for younger people. I mean, I think we all know that is not true. But the thing is that platforms know that older audiences typically have more money and therefore they are a very lucrative demographic. That is why the YouTube Over 40 niche exploded in the past few months. Because it is a profitable demographic. That demographic has been using YouTube for nearly 20 years and they are at a point in their lives where they are likely to make bigger ticket purchases so the YouTube algorithm and other algorithms are very likely to push older creators. So if you are an older creator, now is your time.
Trust is everything.
We are in a trust crisis. According to Edelman’s 2023 Trust Barometer, 63% of people globally don’t believe brands truly care about society. Then you add deep fakes and AI scams and people trust very little. That means viewers are responding less and less to paid marketing and more on content marketing that feels honest. This is where your educational videos come in. You are not pushing a product. You are not pushing a purpose if it will never really materialize. You are pushing a relationship. Build trust with your audience first by showing them you know who they are and what they need. Especially if your audience is women. Women are very vulnerable on social media to trolls and judgment so making your channel a safe space where they trust you is so important. And then after you build that trust, you can work on converting them to your products.
Email marketing is in again.
Email marketing has highs and lows because it can be immensely annoying but right now building a solid email marketing list can be hugely important. It is an owned list and it is ultimately your digital currency. And the other plus of email marketing is that it has a longer half life than most social media as long as people don’t delete it and it doesn’t trigger spam filters.
And here is the big one.
Watch time will increase the more HUMAN you are.
I said HUMAN. Not AI. In the current social media era, most algorithms including the YouTube algorithm are trained to reward creators who keep people watching longer. There is an abundance of AI tools that can be helpful to creators but don’t be seduced by them too much. You cannot rely too heavily on AI that your humanity and vulnerability are gone or you will see your watch time TANK. Using AI for data analysis so you can be smarter in your content creation, yes. Using AI for content generation is not really going to be effective in the long term. People are very distrustful of what is real and what is fake or misleading. Going back to the trust crisis, the more real you feel, the quicker you earn the trust of your viewer, and the longer they stay watching. If you want to increase your watch time, the most important thing you can do in your content marketing is to be human to earn the trust of your viewer, especially if you want that viewer to trust you enough to purchase something during a time where everyone and their dog (literally) is trying to some get rich quick digital business and there are scams everywhere.
So that’s what to expect in 2025 if you are building a digital brand. If you would like more content strategy tips, check out the video YouTube is recommending. Until then, keep creating and I will see you soon.
